Rolex Watch Straps: All the options available

Rolex watches are usually sold with bracelets made from steel or precious metals. However, many people prefer to wear their watches with either leather or rubber straps. This is where the Oysterflex Rolex watch straps come to the rescue. Alternatively, you can also opt for aftermarket watch straps. Here's everything you need to know about watch straps for different Rolex models.

Rolex watch straps

The Oysterflex Bracelet

The Oysterflex bracelet is not just an ordinary rubber strap. Rolex, being Rolex, has added clever features to make the strap more sturdy and comfortable.

  • Metal Blades: The Oysterflex bracelet takes advantage of metal blades made of titanium and nickel alloy. These blades are then over-molded with black elastomer. This construction ensures sturdiness and durability while also adding the comfort of a rubber strap.
  • Patented Design: Rolex holds a patent for the Oysterflex bracelet. Its innovative blend of metal and rubber sets it apart from typical rubber straps.
  • Comfort Cushion: Inside the strap, Rolex has developed a raised rubber “cushion.” These cushions create a comfortable layer between your wrist and the strap.
  • Glidelock Clasp: The new Oysterflex straps seen on the Yacht-Master and the Daytona models come with a Glidelock Clasp. This helps the user to easily adjust the clasp on the go.

Watches Supporting Oysterflex Straps

Several Rolex models now come fitted with the Oysterflex bracelet. The list includes the following watches:

  • Rolex Yacht-Master
  • Rolex Daytona
  • Rolex Sky-Dweller

Aftermarket Rolex Watch Straps

While the Oysterflex straps are available for certain Rolex models, other models have to stick to the bracelets. Well, not necessarily as long as you are ok with exploring aftermarket strap options. With that, you can even get rubber straps for your Datejust, GMT Master II as well as Submariner models. There are plenty of options available out there in terms of aftermarket Rolex watch straps but the one that ChronoStreet recommends is the RubberB strap.

RubberB straps are known for their comfort on the wrist. Additionally, they can use the same clasp that came with the watch, which gives it an appeal that is close to what you would get on an Oysterflex bracelet.

However, that comes at a price. These RubberB straps do not come cheap. Here, in Dubai, you can find Rolex watch straps for around AED 900 to AED 1,500. Although there are cheaper options available starting at AED 200, we would not really recommend those.
